diy // easter eggs

easter is just around the corner. literally.. easter is only 3 days away. i'll be headed to spend some quality time with my family at the ranch. every year we dye eggs but it gets a little repetitive and the past few years it seems like the excitement over creating fun easter eggs has dwindled away. being a holiday fanatic, i'm determined to keep the tradition alive. this year, i won't be dying the eggs. instead, i will be using a paint pen.. pictures to come! as for now, here are some ideas that you can use to spruce up your easter eggs!

words to live by

albert einstein said ,"anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." we all go through set backs when trying to accomplish things but they should't stop us from achieving our dreams. instead, embrace and learn from the mistakes.

this song has been on repeat for the past week. kristen kelly, who sings 'ex-old man', sings out her heart in this slow, but surprisingly not sad song. if you really listen to the words, i think we can all agree that every woman wants a man who loves to make her cry.

diy // howdy crop top

i recently came across this image of olivia munn wearing a howdy crop top. at texas a&m university, students are encouraged to greet everyone they pass on campus with a smile and a big ol' HOWDY! hearing the greeting countless times from fellow students these past few years has earned "howdy" a spot close to my heart. so, naturally, i immediately fell in love with this top. unfortunately, i was not the willing to spend the big bucks on it so i decided to make one of my own!

step 1: gather your materials
:: black t-shirt
:: scissors
:: chalk (or something to mark with)
:: white fabric paint
** stencil (I free handed)

step 2: cut off the collar

step 3: cut off the sleeves

step 4: use the chalk to measure how short you want to cut the bottom

step 5: cut off the bottom where you marked it

step 6: paint the letters on using the white fabric paint
i freehanded the letters but feel free to use a stencil

FINAL PRODUCT!

spring 101

spring is finally upon us and with the turn of a new season, what other than a wardrobe update to celebrate! here in the great state of texas, there aren't too many "spring" weather days - we pretty much go from winter right to summer. but nonetheless, some fresh clothes are still needed to anticipate for the warmer weather. although us texas girls are pulling out the short shorts and crop tops (i.e. as little clothing as possible), one way to keep the looks in check with the spring season is to add some pastel colors to the outfit (think easter colors!). and of course, don't forget the spring staple, florals! here are a few items on my wish list.

taylor swift is a good song writer, there's no doubt about that. what she hasn't sold me on is her ability to sing, contrary to what my friends believe. although her songs are catchy, it's hard not to switch channels when she comes on the radio. while browsing youtube, i came across a couple of videos of covers to t-swifts songs, which i find to be much better than the originals. so thank you, taylor, for adding some new songs to my playlist! check them out for yourself.
